In Awakening the Anathema, I’m not depicting myself, but there’s an undeniable part of me in the creation. It’s rather something I understand. A character twisted and reshaped by things it might never fully know. The hollow eyes and fragmented face, overtaken by strange, creeping forms, show a struggle I often think about. Hidden elements that emerge from within, sometimes dark and unsettling, but always calling to be seen. For me, this piece captures that part of the mind where things are left unfiltered, where the parts we push away, our "anathemas", are finally brought to light. A reflection of my curiosity about the parts of us that remain buried. It’s a fascination with the internal, with what we’d rather keep hidden but can’t fully ignore. Through Awakening the Anathema, I’m not embodying these shadows, but I am inviting them in, letting them live through the art. This is my exploration of how those darker, creeping elements feel when we let them come forward, raw and without restraint.
